Antiquated IT systems

Will your system become antiquated or obsolete?  What kind of a computer do you use at home?  Is it the best money can buy?  When did it become a  middle of the road system?  Probably six months after you bought it.   Technology will continue to give us bells and whistles.  But a car only needs four wheels to provide you with transportation from point A to point B.  What does an Electronic medical records systems need to do?   It needs to be used.  It needs to be used by real nurses and doctors, not IT specialists. It needs to be proven in an environment that experiences staff turnover.  If the system has an easy learning curve, then it has been proven in a high staff turnover facility.
