| GUI ? (Pronounced Goo-ey)
What is it? It is the Graphic Users Interface?
This is the actual method in which a user operates a
software. When you log onto a PC with Windows 98 or 95, or
ME, the way you get around the computer is the GUI.
It is what took computers mainstream from the good old days of
having to type funny commands on a black and white DOS
screen.
The GUI has to be friendly. Small portable devices have
a restricted GUI because of the size of the device. If
most of your end users use a Windows PC type GUI on their home
computer, then it makes sense that the most familiar GUI they
will be comfortable is a PC based GUI. Implementing
strategies need to take into account a users familiarity with
mainstream technology.
Remember, usually the lead person at a facility that is
introducing a new product to their peers is most likely an
"early adopter". Gadgets and gizmos are great for them, but
most end users are not comfortable with anything but what they
have at home.
