Voice Recognition Realities

Voice Recognition software has come a long way. Any software that an area for type written input, can have Voice recognition software used with it. Basically the software is cursor specific. This means, that when you have the software application open, no matter where you place your cursor, even in another software application or even your email text box, then the voice software puts your voiced in text in that area. What are the best ways to use voice recognition software:

• 500 mhz Pentium III

• 256 RAM

• USB port head set-this is better than  traditional plug in  headsets that plug into the sound card.  

• In a cubical

Accuracy is still not 100%, but with a minimal amount of voice-computer training (i.e. Dragon 4.0 Preferred takes 5 minutes) it can approach 99%.  Voice is a great adjunct to an electronic medical records software suite.  Recommended: Dragon Preferred Medical Suite Approximate Cost: $1000 for the Medical Suite Add on. Just Dragon 4.0 is approximately $200.
